cModLoader development for TModCreator
The previous instalment of the crawdad news had an article on the possible abandonment of cModLoader. We are happy to announce we have official confirmation from Crawdad105 himself that cModLoader is not abandoned. Crawdad105 has said before that the reason development stopped is for reasons relating to version support. To get a working UI compatible for every version of terraria, methods are needed similar to the native window system he implemented on linux and windows but more complex as every default terraria UI feature needs to be implemented for every version of terraria. Despite this, after Crawdad105's hiatus, we were told that development may be starting back up soon. Furthermore it seems like TModCreator may also be in development or in the planning stage according to a post posted by Crawdad105 on the TModCreator itch.io page.

Finally a new video
After many months of waiting Crawdad105 has published a new Youtube video. Unlike ones before, this one did not contain his voice, and was entirely composed of terraria music. The premise of the video was a reference to MetaBallStudios who mainly compare the size of objects. In this video, Crawdad105 has a showcase of all NPC and their given sizes. Its a fairly simple concept but has not been done before with this many NPCs on Youtube. And the shear scale of this video has many wondering how it was done, 696 NPCs to go through is not easy feat. Luckily for Crawdad105 he was able to use multiple different script to obtain, parse and render the video. With the help of cModLoader, he was able to extract all the NPC data from vanilla terraria. He was then able to use a script within unity to parse the data and place elements in the unity space for rendering. The unity rendering was done using FFmpeg but ultimately the video was edited and terraria music was applied in a traditional video editing software.
(Section 2, continuation of "cModLoader development for TModCreator")
The key focus according to Crawdad105 posted on itch.io is for cModLoader to be the official supported output mod type for TModCreator. As a reminder, TModCreator is a very long awaited mod creator for terraria Crawdad105 worked on may years ago. It's original purpose was to give people not interested in programming the ability to create mods for tModLoader. With the advances in cModLoader however, Crawdad105 says that tModLoader may no longer be the official output. He also says other cModLoader variants such as 3ModLoader may be an output option along with potentially TerrariaModder however the devs approval may be needed first.
Collectors edition collected
On the official Crawdad105 discord server Crawdad105 has posted images of a collectors edition of terraria he got. He says he will likely be making a Youtube video on this but possibly after a 3DS related one which he says "would take a while". As documentation online of these versions past a simple explanation is hard to come by Crawdad105 goes in depth explain exactly what is on the disk. According to Crawdad105 many sources explain that the disk contains a rom of the game however this is only partially true as there is a steam backup in the form if a .sid file however due to this being so old steam is unable to extract the files. More information is supposedly being presented in the video on this version so we will wait and see, and potential report back any interesting findings.
Every Physical Terraria Versions
Every physical version of terraria is currently being documented by Crawdad105 on this web page. Versions from the Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Playstation Vita, Xbox 360, XBox ONE, 3DS, Wii U, Nintendo Switch and more are listed here. Including many obscure versions such as dedicated italian releases or rare brazilian versions. Crawdad105 is asking users to contribute as he has scoured the internet for the missing versions but can not find them.
Lost the plot
Crawdad105 has seemingly forgotten about terraria. This is obviously an exaggeration however a bunch of non terraria related projects were made or have been started. For someone who only plays terraria these seem like a strange turn of events.
Random NSMB Mob?
Crawdad105 has, out of nowhere, posted a mod for a remake of the NSMB (New Super Mario Brows) Mario vs. Luigi verses. This mod adds many new levels, features and playable characters. He also engraved it into the Crawdad105.com website as the link crawdad105.com/nsmb now redirect to the itch.io page the mod is hosted on. It should also be noted the game has preformed supersizing well, attracting over 300 plays as of this publication.
3D in Scratch
Crawdad105 has reportedly been working on a 3D rendering engine in Scratch, a block coding websites meant to teach kids coding. 3D in Scratch is highly sought after and many say 3D Scratch projects are the best, so for whatever reason Crawdad105 has decided to make his own. This renderer is not public at this time.
Drop in quality.
Many readers of the Crawdad News have reported that the quality of the previous publication was lackluster at best. Many misspelt words, incorrect sentences and more plagued the publication causing readers confusion. Hopefully this time we do a better job at our job.

cModLoader abandoned?
The vanilla mod loader, cModLoader, has seemingly been abandoned. Although there is no reports to back this up, there has been no development on it for the past many months. According to reports, the developer Crawdad105 has been taking an extended break after encountering issues adding comparability for all versions of terraria. Crawdad105 has reportedly said "This issue requires a well through out strategy because if otherwise the code will be an absolute mess". With this being the case many are still waiting and hoping development does not stop and a beta release is releases in a relatively timely manner. Modders however have found a work around are resulting in using a competitors mod loader. Although meant for a different use case, many are using the other vanilla mod loader TerrariaModder to mod vanilla terraria. Originally created for QoL mods it does as cModLoader does and loads mods into terraria. If cModLoader does not make meaningful progress experts suggest TerrariaModder could become the standard while cModLoader gets left in the dust.
3DS firmware for a 3ds Terraria Mod Loader?
The 3DS version of Terraria is reportedly very underrated. Many online users have considered and discussed a mod loader for this version. Crawdad105, the same developer behind cModLoader, has apparently been working on a mod loader for the 3DS version of Terraria. This 3DS and cModLoader hybrid is known as '3ModLoader', Crawdad105 on his Discord Server has been posting updates and developer logs documenting most of his development journey. From what is shown this mod loader is looking promising however it first requires a modified version of rosalina, a Luma3DS system module which itself is 3DS firmware. This modification to roslaina according to Crawdad105 is currently called 'cdad' however down the line he suggested it be renamed to 'dandalina' to match rosalina's naming. This 3DS firmware is more then just a loader for the 3DS mod loader as it includes a memory viewer, debugger, file browser, plugin system separate and simpler then rosalina's and many different kinds of UI elements making the user interface easy to approach.
Website 'overhaul'
The crawdad105.com website has been heavily updated since the last time it was updated. Multiple new pages including games, general info, along with many cosmetic and quality of life navigation features have been added. This bumped the website version up to 0.4.3.
Where is skyblock?
Crawdad105 has stated that his skyblock videos have not been preforming well on youtube. He said he will instead be posting other content on top of working on other seemingly programming related topics.
3DS Debug Discovery
Crawdad105, in his journey to develop a mod loader for the 3ds version of terraria, has stumbled across left over debug functionality in the 3DS version of terraria. Not much is known about this and with the code being likely copywriter but obtained legally its safe to keep it on the down low.
Crawdad.dev
Crawdad105 has acquire another website domain. First it was 'crawdad105.com' and now 'crawdad.dev'. Because Crawdad105 claims to be a programmer he suggest that a portfolio would be best on this computer development related site, however at the moment is just redirects to his main site. It's also said he wants the 'craw.dad' more then any other since he says its short, easy to memories and very related to his branding, unfortunately though it is already own by someone else.

cModLoader full version to come!
The mod loader for vanilla terraria, cModLoader Legacy, has been released and with it, multiple mods. According to the information listed on the GitHub Page, a full, non legacy, version of cModLoader is in the works. As of yet it is unknown what features will be added. According to credible sources a custom patcher was made to override original game functions as Harmony reportedly did not work. Reporters will keep close eye on updates or any information regarding the full version of cModLoader.
A game similar to Diep.io
Out of no were a game remarkably similar to Diep.io was added to the crawdad105 website. It was likely made by crawdad105 himself but it is unknown why. Although similar it is said to be "Not a Deip.io Remake", multiple reasons were given such as there being no multiplayer and different physics. It seems anyone is able to play it and, in fact, it is recommended when the player gets board, that they mess with the console to gain points and such. The similarities however could be its downfall. With this looking so similar to Diep.io it raises question about legality. We reached out to crawdad105 for comment on any legal implication this could load to and he said, "If I get told to take it down, I will, its not worth going to court over."
Mobile 1.0 part 2
As of this pages publication a second video to the Mobile 1.0 series is to be released. It is said to contain invisible enemies, but the video has not been released so it is unknown what exactly this implies.
Terraria runs 1 frame faster
According to research done by crawdad105 in the frame skip mode "Frame Skip On", Terraria reportedly runs 1 frame more per second. Implications due to this 1 frame different includes unsynced blocks and players which could cause server errors. More information can be seen on the official crawdad105 Discord Server.
Next video planed
At this point in time other then the Mobile 1.0 part 2 video it is unknown what video crawdad105 will post next. Some say it will be a challenge video and other say it could be about saving a file in terraria as old community pols conclude this is the next more popular options. However a date for when this new video could be releases has not been stated.

New Video Could Come Out Soon
It has been said that the youtuber Crawdad105 is working a new a video. The video has only been said to be in the works, and no further information has been given. Sources suggest it will not be another 100 days video despite a thumbnail being posted in the Crawdad105's official public discord server —discord.com/invite/5NKSqxkckA—, in which case the next 100 day video could be delayed even further. Word has it however that another 100 day video should not take 6 months like the previous upload. As of this publication it has been 60 days since a video was updated to the youtube page. With this being the case we are due for another video. Assuming a video is to be released it will be the second public video in the year 2025. Many speculate the new video could be something relating to an auto fisher as another post was made in the public discord server showing a video of a new auto fisher. This post also contains the word "cModLoader" which could also be a hint to the next future video.
Vanilla Terraria Mod Loader In The Works
A mod loader for vanilla terraria is currently in development called "cModLoader". This vanilla mod loader was shown alongside an auto fisher mod in Crawdad105's official public discord. On May 20th, 2025 Crawdad105 also known as Crawdad uploaded a video with an attached message reading "I have update my auto fisher, it now works flawlessly, and i do not need to be focused on Terraria, it dose not even need to be visible, if terraria is running its fishing. however it dose require using my new vanilla mod loader (that dose not run tmodloader mods) so you could argue its cheating but imo its not." This message explains that a new auto fisher was made, presumably auto fisher 2.0, and that it no longer requires an external executable file to function.
(View Section 2 for more information)
(Section 2, continuation of "Vanilla Terraria Mod Loader In The Works")
It has been mentions that this new auto fisher will be using a new, currently unreleased, mod loader designed to allow modders to create mods for vanilla Terraria. It should be stated that mods made for TModLoader are not compatible with cModLoader, the reason has not been mentioned nor has any confirmation been made whether or not this will stay the case. This message was posted with an attached video showing a screen recording of a desktop screen going through the process up using the new auto fisher mod. The video displays a Terraria window being controlled by a person who is likely the author of the project, who is assumed to be Crawdad. The user proceeds to open a custom menu using a button that was added by the cModLoader mod, this new menu then allows the user to upload a mod, in this case it was a dll file. Nothing about the dll file was mentioned other then it was the new auto fisher. Judging by the video is seems dll files will be the medium for mod packages. This is a common file type for mods. After loading into a world the video then shows the user fishing while also using other programs like youtube or notepad. At this moment no release date for both the auto fisher and mod loader have not been mentioned. cModLoader was mentioned on the 17th of March 2025 however it was referred to be "very bare bones but dose work" by Crawdad. With this being the case and it being around 2 months since then, it's safe to assume there could be another month or 2 wait before there is a public releace.
Crawdad Is The 180th Terraria player
Crawdad105 has confirmed in his discord that he has player over 9,100 hours in Terraria. With this number being so large he is now 180th on the most hours played in Terraria leader board. This information can be seen on the Steam Ladder playtime page for Terraria. steamladder.com/ladder/playtime/105600/
300 Days For 1000 Views
The 3rd installment of 100 days in the most limited skyblock video has surpassed one thousand views. Despite this video preforming the worst out of all 3 episodes it has finally passes the one K mark.
Better Discord Terraria Theme
On April 17th 2025 Crawdad105 posted a custom CSS file with style data for a Terraria themed discord. This can be downloaded for free on the crawdad105 discord. It does however require downloading and installing Better Discord to add the custom theme.
First Crawdad News Paper Published
This is the first installment of the the Crawdad News papers. These papers will contains information and updates about crawdad105, his discord, youtube channel or programming projects. These will be published seldomly and are written by Crawdad105 himself in 3rd person form.
